About me
I have been working in Library and IT services within the Higher Education sector for over 15 years. As well as a strong technical background, I have been on the management team of the library services of two leading UK Universities (Royal Holloway, University of London and Imperial College London), and I’ve been responsible for a number of innovative projects at both institutional and national levels. These include:
- Project Director for the EThOSNet project to launch national e-theses service based at the British Library
- Selecting and implementing a variety of library and e-learning systems including Library Management Systems, OpenURL resolvers, Federated Search systems and Virtual Learning Environments
- Designing and implementing a new staff structure for teams dealing with IT and Information Resources in the Imperial College London Library service
- Organising the very first ‘Mashed Libraries‘ event in the UK
Through speaking and writing, I’ve become a well known and respected member of the library community. Recently I’ve spoken on:
- Integrating library resources into online learning evironments (ALT-C 2009)
- Resource Discovery infrastructure (JISC Resource Discovery Taskforce)
- Providing Library Technical Services in the 21st Century (ALA 2008)
